Job Description:

This position will report to the Director of Technical Services and Operations and will be responsible for the Networking and Communications team. Accountability includes but is not limited to; the on time delivery of projects, day to day operations, outage resolution, employee development and budget planning and tracking.

· Manage the day to day activities of the Network and Communications team. This includes performance appraisals, career development and mentoring team members

· Responsible for Network and VoIP architecture, Standards and Practices

· Responsible for Network Security (PCI)

· Responsible for managing budget for equipment and ongoing expenses for data circuits and etc.

· Negotiate and manage contracts with third party providers and vendors.

· Responsible for maintaining all network systems, applications, security and configurations.

· Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

· Creates and maintains disaster recovery plans.

· Responsible for evaluating and ensuring all upgrades, patches, and new applications and devices are deployed properly.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years experience in the field or related area.

· Must have experience with both Juniper and Cisco devices.

· Advanced knowledge of firewalls, wireless devices, routing principals, and network architecture along with knowledge of  Voice over IP (VoIP)

· 3+ years in a leadership role.

· 3+ years managing capital and expense budgets

Direct-hire Sr Desktop Engineer Opportunity with a Great Company in Grapevine, TX

SUMMARY
The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation, management, and support of desktop platforms and connected systems. This position responds to escalated support requests that require an expert level of experience for troubleshooting and/or resolution, and works on a variety of projects including: software deployments, new platform research, reporting, and architecting new processes related to the platform. The Desktop Engineer works under general supervision to ensure the stability of the platform and minimize the downtime of the platforms used by all users.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·
Resolve escalated incidents efficiently to minimize down time, and provide support documentation to front line support in order to reduce the number of escalated incidents.

· Initiate escalation of severe service problems as appropriate with vendors or other organizational groups and ensure management and Help Desk remain informed until the problem is resolved.

· Manage day-to-day and project tasks including Patch Management, Software Packaging and Distribution, maintaining OS deployment processes, process automation and ad-hoc reporting.

· Ensure proper compliance with Sarbanes – Oxley and PCI regulations in order to pass audits.

· Ensure adequate training and documentation is provided to customers (other IT groups and business units) on solutions provided to empower them to maximize the solution’s value and reduce incidents.

· Partner with other IT groups or business units to identify platform design requirements, support processes and software requirements.

· Architect and implement solutions and processes for client systems that minimize support costs and maximize up-time and customer productivity.

· Work with software and hardware vendors to identify and implement solutions for use and integration into production, test, and QA systems to meet business needs, reduce costs, reduce incidents, and increase productivity.

· Continually identify opportunities for process improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

· Satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeps up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.

· High School Diploma or GED required

· At least 3 years of IT support experience in a Windows 2000, XP, Win7 environment consisting of 300+ workstations required

· Must be able and willing to work additional hours and weekends as business needs require

· Must be able to participate in a rotating “on-call” rotation and accept calls after hours and on weekends

· Microsoft Certification in at least one area related to the position such as MCSE or MSDST preferred

· Must know scripting and at least 1 programming language (VB6, C#  or VB.net preferred)

· Demonstrated customer service expert with the ability to interact with all levels of users from front line to executive

· Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities

· Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using spoken and written English

· Proficient knowledge of scripting using VBScript

· Proficient knowledge of Application and OS patching methods

· Proficient knowledge of performing SQL queries

· Proficient in recognizing discrepancies in written/recorded data/information.

· Working knowledge of Operating System deployment methods

· Working knowledge of Software packaging and deployment methods

· Working knowledge of coding and compiling executables using tools such as Visual Basic, C++, C# or an equivalent preferred

· Working knowledge of how to build web interfaces using HTML, ASP, ASP.NET or an equivalent preferred

· Working ability to support one or more of the following products; McAfee ePO/AntiVirus, PGP, Remoteware, Service Desk Express, BigFix, Tivoli preferred

· Working knowledge of WMI and other low level Microsoft technologies to remotely manage client systems preferred

· Experience as a Remoteware Administrator highly preferred.

Responsibilities

*Managing and maintaining various, complex production and non-production databases.

* Installing, upgrading, refreshing and maintaining all database environments.

* Responsible for the day to day database administrative tasks, such as: proactive monitoring, error checking, performance tuning, trouble-shooting, back-up and recovery.

* Collaborating with project teams to set up database, DB interface, and production set-up and configuration.

* Managing user security and access to databases to provide controlled access environment.

* Investigating, reviewing, applying and testing all patches and bug fixes in the database environment and providing consultation on patch management, custom interface design and operational implementation.

* Interacting with developers and programmers in order to design/review programs, custom interfaces and queries according to standards.

* Utilizing data management tools such as SSIS, SSAS, DTS, and SSRS

* Will be required to be on an on-call rotation

Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree preferred.

* 5 to 7+ years’ experience of Database Administration, Database Design, Performance Analysis, and Production Support

* Preferred industry related certifications

f) Assist Client with implementation of replacement procurement technology, including requisition/purchase orders, sourcing, contract management, and supply chain management.

g) Advise and assist with the development and implementation of supply chain management and strategic sourcing systems.

Project Management

Consultant activities may include, but are not limited to working with Procurement and related Departments to:

a) Translate customer requirements into formal plans that culminate in customer acceptance of the proposed solutions while meeting business objectives.

b) Lead a team in planning, initiating, controlling, executing, and closing tasks of a project or segment of a project to produce the desired solution.

c) Formulate partnerships between customers, suppliers, and staff to anticipate potential project related problems using refined techniques for identifying, eliminating, or mitigating solution, project, and business risks.

d) Apply a strong understanding of customer, industry, and business trends to analyze information or situations, and implement actions to ensure project objectives are met, either independently or through the management team.

e) Analyze new and complex project related problems, and create innovative solutions, involving finance, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools, and other components, as necessary.

Capacity Building

Work with the Client Procurement management team on efforts to ensure it has the appropriate capacity and skills to fulfill its goals and objectives.

Specific consultant activities may include, but are not limited to:

a) Development of a capacity and skills assessment.

b) Identification of appropriate training programs or delivery of targeted training.

c) Development of training materials or institutionalized support systems or initiatives.

Procurement Support.

Client may require support from professional procurement specialists to support or lead procurement processes for specific and complex transactions, including procurement planning, development of specifications, statements of work and sourcing documents, evaluation of offers, negotiations, and contract administration. The level of support required may range from procurement staff augmentation to complete outsourcing of a specific contract or contract portfolio. The procurement specialists must be or become thoroughly familiar with Client, customer, and government regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance during procurement activities.

Examples of required procurement category expertise include:

a) Acquisition of complex capital assets such as locomotives, buses, and streetcars

b) Procurement of information and communication technology, including software, hardware, and related services

c) Contracting for complex systems, including a universal fare payment card “Rapidcard” and mobility management services using performance based contracts and Public Private Partnerships

d) Competitive outsourcing of services and systems, including “make or buy” analyses

e) Procurement of energy, including electricity, fuels, and associated services

The procurement specialists may be required to perform cost and price analyses of various contractual documents and transactions.

POSITION SCOPE:

Candidate will perform and monitor all Video Telecommunication activities remotely for all clients facilities. The candidate shall provide Cisco VOIP support for approximately 60 US offices and where VTC services are offered. The candidate will have experience in troubleshooting voice and data networks. A thorough understanding of VoIP, networking and security protocols; experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting; solid technical skills coupled with a can-do-it attitude and customer handling skills. Candidate will be receiving customer trouble tickets electronically and follow up with customers, resolve issues, replicate more complicated issues to customers, provide status to customers, and document problems and resolutions. This position requires certain flexibility and a drive to learn new skills.

Provide assistance to clients VTC users with regards to current systems deployed.

Provide an assist on site personnel with setup, troubleshooting, and repairing of deployed systems.

Control the pre-reservation of VTC resources to ensure system access to VTC services.

Provide daily oversight of the hardware and software availability of the systems identified.

Manage the set up to include reconfiguration of the VTC user interface to complete site to multi-site calling.

Other duties may be assigned to meet operational needs.

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP)

3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the above VTC support the Tech Support Engineer will be responsible for setting up or troubleshooting VoIP installations and equipment.

Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction

Serve as initial escalation point for technical support issues (Tier 1)

Troubleshoot and report VoIP performance issues

Responsible for resolving customer requests/issues in a timely manner

Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating possible trends with regard to common system failures or outages and communicating these to the IT manager

Enjoy inbound phone calls to resolve tech support issues for Resellers learning Open Standards based VoIP solutions.

Track open trouble tickets and find resolution for issues.

Troubleshoots VoIP issues utilizing packet capture tools and VoIP server logs

Directly work with manufacturers of VoIP equipment forwarding issues

Implement HPCMO technical standard practice, and maintains Chenega related activity calendars and policy / procedure documentation.

Work in conjunction with 2nd & 3rd tier support specialist.

Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and take direction from other team members

4. EXPERIENCE:

Working knowledge of SIP and/or H.323, and TCP/IP protocols

Working knowledge of IP networking and security (CCNA or other network certification would be a plus)

Familiarity with installing and configuring Cisco Call Manager 6.x or higher

Familiarity with Audio/Video Codecs with Cisco or similar Gateways

2+ years experience deploying and/or testing VoIP and VTC systems or solutions

2+ years experience in telecommunications

2+ years isolating and repairing VoIP system faults/configurations and/or determining interoperability issues

Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers and IP routing, and switches

Familiarity with VoIP devices, i.e. Cisco 7900 series, IP Communicator, ATA devices, and CUVA

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and customer service skills

Good written and verbal communication skills in English

5. CERTIFICATIONS: CCNP or CCVP (preferred)
