What does the role involve?

Assume responsibility to architect, implement and optimize more than one area of application design and development; drive one or more parts of a larger multi-system initiative
Produce solution designs to be fleshed out and implemented by development teams – this may include proofs of concept, development activities, cost/benefit analysis, training, configuration, service level requirements
Conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives; identify new components to be procured or developed; provide short term solutions, as well as clear evolution paths and long-term architecture strategy
Identify, analyze, and communicate architecture and integration options; document best practices and solution blueprints
Interact with business unit management, company IT, vendors and industry experts to collect requirements, understand options and determine solutions
Apply established architectural principles and application of technology solutions to multiple business processes and technologies
Assist development leads to implement architectural strategies and the proper use of enterprise and application design patterns

What you need is:

· Minimum five (5) years’ experience in software development hands-on experience and SDLC practices
· Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the Solutions Architect role, designing distributed systems that span the following areas: micro-services, data architecture, integration patterns, and distributed system integration
· Real-world practical experience applying enterprise, domain and software design patterns; strong software development skills in C# and/or .NET; some knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript required
· Hands-on experience architecting and design cloud-based workloads on AWS or Azure
· Experience architecting Event-Driven Architectures using technologies like Kafka, Kinesis Streams, SQS, SNS, EventBridge
· Experience with non-relational databases like MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc…
· Experience with API Management practices designing, securing, and exposing APIs
· Experience architecting Identity and Access Management solutions using Oauth and OpenID or similar standards
· Applied analytical thinking and proven structured engineering approach to complex solution design/implementation and problem resolution across diverse areas
· Ability to anticipate technical trends in defined and relevant IT areas
· Broad technical and extensive architecture knowledge based on experience and expert training/education

    Contract-to-hire Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Opportunity in Plano, TX

    This can be hybrid (preferred; both remote and in office) or remote.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

    The Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is primarily responsible for leading a Site Reliability Engineering program for the purpose of building and running large-scale, distributed, fault-tolerant systems with reliability and uptime appropriate to users’ needs. The Lead SRE is also responsible for the performance, training, discipline and development of assigned personnel; and provides input and assistance with budgeting, financial management, and technical system design and selection.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

    • Coordinate and manage the activities of a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team responsible for the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning for their assigned system(s).
    • Work with appropriate stakeholders to identify Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for critical systems. Identify the Service Level Indicators (SLIs) required to effectively measure SLOs and work with the appropriate technical stakeholders to implement and/or instrument the required systems and processes to measure and monitor the SLIs.
    • Build, administer and participate in a program to minimize change disruptions by identifying, developing, and implementing automation to implement progressive rollouts, quickly and accurately detect problems and roll back changes safely when problems arise.
    • Identify, pursue, and implement systems and tools to eliminate toil work tied to running a production service that tends to be manual, repetitive, automatable, tactical, devoid of enduring value, and that scales linearly as a service grows.
    • Administer and participate in, as needed, a postmortem program for all significant incidents. This program should include an investigation to establish what happened in detail, find all root causes of the event, and assign actions (via User Stories) to correct the problem or improve how it is addressed next time.
    • Work with the appropriate service owners/stakeholders to develop playbooks containing best practices for troubleshooting steps and tips for the most likely and impactful failure modes. Exercise the playbooks through group tabletop exercises.
    • Collaborate with the Systems Monitoring Lead to ensure monitoring systems to include the corresponding people, processes, and tools are appropriately defined and implemented.
    • Identify and facilitate individual development plans (IDPs), to include both formal and informal development opportunities, for direct reports.
    • Assist in the development of annual budgets for assigned area of responsibility and monitor spend and performance to optimize organizational profitability.
    • Provide evening and weekend support to the team as needed.


    REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

    Education

    • A four-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering; or a four-year degree in another field of study which includes courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering; or relevant work experience is required

    Experience

    • 6 years of applicable experience in a technology environment, preferably with time spent in an engineering capacity, is required.
    • 2 years of multi-person team management experience, including task assignment, performance coaching and reviews, hiring and firing, and conflict management is required.
    • 2 years+ working in a Cloud environment with AWS as the preferred
    • 4 years+ working with performance monitoring tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, etc…
    • Coding experience beyond simple scripts is required.
    • Ability to program (structured and OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, C/C++, and JavaScript is preferred.
    • Experience with distributed storage technologies like NFS, HDFS, S3 as well as dynamic resource management frameworks (Mesos, Kubernetes, Yarn) is preferred.

                  Manager, Systems Administration (Windows) Opportunity in Lewisville, TX

                  Responsibilities

                  • Resolve complex enterprise system hardware and software problems; collaborate with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions
                  • Lead the installation and testing of new enterprise system software and hardware releases
                  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new hardware and software developments; participate in the evaluation of alternative approaches and new software or modifications to enhance operations and development activities
                  • Interface with business clients and technology staff to implement solutions that meet business needs and addresses impact of new or revised applications on existing infrastructure
                  • Facilitate generation and/or implementation of new ideas for enhancements and improvements
                  • Ensure working practices and processes are standardized, documented and repeatable.
                  • Manage team of System Administration professionals: Complete staff reviews and appraisals, develop personal development plans, ensure cross-training between team members to provide redundancy, drive performance through industry standard metrics and hold team members accountable for sustained performance.
                  • Develop regular management reports to ensure all systems are properly managed. 
                  • Mentor junior and intermediate development staff. 
                  • Plan and recommend departmental workflow or system modifications to increase efficiency, capacity, and utilization.
                  • Develop and manage subordinates through formal and informal coaching, training, work assignments, and performance appraisal process.
                  • Research new technologies, upgrades, and applications for all areas of responsibility.

                  Qualifications

                  • BA/BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 
                  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supporting various enterprise class solutions and services including Windows server administration and security; understanding of implementation of systems at scale, must be able to prioritize, delegate and foster the development of high-performance teams to lead/support an environment driven by customer service and teamwork.
                  • Strong trouble-shooting and organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to participate in resource planning processes based on defined organizational plans.
                  • Demonstrated understanding of foundational infrastructure supporting OS platforms including Windows server OS versions 2003, 2008, 2012R2, 2016 and 2019 as well as clustering concepts and HA.
                  • Excellent verbal and written communication is required.  It will be very hard to succeed in this position without this skillset.
                  • Passionate and energetic about technology solutions and customer service. 
                  • Required Expertise in relevant technologies such as:  Windows Server, MS Active Directory, DNS & DHCP Services, SCCM, VMWare, Datacenter Hardware implementations including servers and storage, Hyperconverged systems.
                  • In-depth knowledge of cloud technologies and implementations required.  Specifically, experience with AWS and Azure infrastructure solutions and Microsoft Office 365 implementations (Office products, email, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online)
                  • Knowledge and background with Cisco networking and telephony products a big plus.  We utilize Cisco collaboration tools and are driving adoption of this toolset across the company.
                  • Knowledge in server patching methodologies and automation. 
                  • Ability to analyze data to produce and present executive level reporting for weekly and monthly operations meetings and monthly business reviews. 
                  • Exceptional manager of people, process and technology. 
                  • You are an excellent technical troubleshooter and can use that skillset to provide guidance to your teams for critical system incidents.
