Network Field Engineer This job will provide services to customers in the Network and Security portfolio to include both physical device installation and configuration as well as network assessment or audit functions.
10 Major responsibilities: (Primary accountability for specific functions and results) 1 Work with the Project Manager, other delivery engineers and the customer to coordinate and plan network related services they have been assigned. 2 Advanced to expert level skill with Cisco LAN switches and Brocade LAN switches with the ability to install, troubleshoot and operate with minimal assistance. Chassis 3 Advanced to expert level skills with Cisco Wireless Access Points and Controllers and the ability to perform a survey, install, troubleshoot and operate with minimal assistance. 4 Advanced to expert level skills with Cisco Security platforms, including ASA and NAC appliances, with the ability to perform security analysis, tune in-place installations, install, troubleshoot and operate with minimal assistance. 5 Advanced to expert level skills with network protocols, with specific practical experience with Spanning Tree, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS and DCB. 6 Advanced to expert level skills with Data Center network design, with particular emphasis around converged networking (FCOE), Top of Rack design concepts, High Availability and reliability. 7 Advanced level skills with Disaster Recovery concepts, application and testing with particular emphasis regarding connectivity and protocols such as VPLS and OTV. 8 Advanced level skills in network audit and assessment concepts with particular emphasis around network management, statistics collection and analysis. 9 Advanced level skills with WAN design in traditional Frame Relay mesh, Hub and Spoke and MPLS networks. Experience should include Quality of Service, Multicast, issue identification, Carrier relationships and traffic management. 10 Advanced level skills with Infrastructure concepts regarding DHCP, DNS, ISP uplinks and peering, Multicast, VoIP planning and a basic understanding of Microsoft Active Directory.
Additional Responsibilities: This position will also be responsible for managing, installation and operating our internal network and handling any tickets opened by customers in the hosting environment. Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience: 5-10 years of working experience in the network field Specialized knowledge Experience in a consultative role is preferred. Advanced level knowledge of Cisco LAN/WAN/Security devices and knowledge of Brocade LAN switches required. Experience with MS Office applications required. This is 6 Month Contract and a CCNP or CCVP is preferred POSITION SCOPE: Candidate will perform and monitor all Video Telecommunication activities remotely for all clients facilities. The candidate shall provide Cisco VOIP support for approximately 60 US offices and where VTC services are offered. The candidate will have experience in troubleshooting voice and data networks. A thorough understanding of VoIP, networking and security protocols; experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting; solid technical skills coupled with a can-do-it attitude and customer handling skills. Candidate will be receiving customer trouble tickets electronically and follow up with customers, resolve issues, replicate more complicated issues to customers, provide status to customers, and document problems and resolutions. This position requires certain flexibility and a drive to learn new skills. Provide assistance to clients VTC users with regards to current systems deployed. Provide an assist on site personnel with setup, troubleshooting, and repairing of deployed systems. Control the pre-reservation of VTC resources to ensure system access to VTC services. Provide daily oversight of the hardware and software availability of the systems identified. Manage the set up to include reconfiguration of the VTC user interface to complete site to multi-site calling. Other duties may be assigned to meet operational needs.
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) 3. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the above VTC support the Tech Support Engineer will be responsible for setting up or troubleshooting VoIP installations and equipment. Ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction Serve as initial escalation point for technical support issues (Tier 1) Troubleshoot and report VoIP performance issues Responsible for resolving customer requests/issues in a timely manner Responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating possible trends with regard to common system failures or outages and communicating these to the IT manager Enjoy inbound phone calls to resolve tech support issues for Resellers learning Open Standards based VoIP solutions. Track open trouble tickets and find resolution for issues. Troubleshoots VoIP issues utilizing packet capture tools and VoIP server logs Directly work with manufacturers of VoIP equipment forwarding issues Implement HPCMO technical standard practice, and maintains Chenega related activity calendars and policy / procedure documentation. Work in conjunction with 2nd & 3rd tier support specialist. Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and take direction from other team members 4. EXPERIENCE: Working knowledge of SIP and/or H.323, and TCP/IP protocols Working knowledge of IP networking and security (CCNA or other network certification would be a plus) Familiarity with installing and configuring Cisco Call Manager 6.x or higher Familiarity with Audio/Video Codecs with Cisco or similar Gateways 2+ years experience deploying and/or testing VoIP and VTC systems or solutions 2+ years experience in telecommunications 2+ years isolating and repairing VoIP system faults/configurations and/or determining interoperability issues Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routers and IP routing, and switches Familiarity with VoIP devices, i.e. Cisco 7900 series, IP Communicator, ATA devices, and CUVA Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and customer service skills Good written and verbal communication skills in English
5. CERTIFICATIONS: CCNP or CCVP (preferred)
