This client is the largest fixed wireless provider serving businesses in the United States. We deliver a comprehensive portfolio of high-bandwidth Internet access, point-to-point private line services and managed solutions over one of the industry’s most scalable last-mile networks.

Job Summary

Be a part of a team responsible for providing direction and assistance to the field operations team, day-to-day maintenance, testing and otherwise resolving network. This position will primarily be performed in an office environment, and will occasionally work in the field as required by outages, projects or assignments. Candidate must work effectively under pressure associated with project deadlines, priorities, and working with complex, rapidly changing technology. Candidate must respond at any given time to system failure emergencies, unanticipated problems, or contingencies. Ideal candidate is personable and self-motivated with a high degree of integrity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer experience through the use of solid communication skills
  • Assess the ability to work efficiently within the ACD system, Trouble Ticketing system, Network Management System and be able to navigate through each to complete required job functions
  • Provide Third-level problem determination.  Address and resolve NOC assigned trouble tickets and customer communications
  • Support all first and second level escalations within the NOC.  Work with Network Engineering to identify and resolve complex routing issues, DNS issues, routing tables errors, and Network architecture issues within the network.
  • Support turn-up on new customers, work with LECs, Network Engineering, RF Engineering in all aspects of customer installations
  • Conduct training of all Network Operations Engineers in an effort to reduce escalations to Third level and to Network Engineering.  Success will be based on the reduction of churn, reduction of MTTR, reduction of re-assigned tickets and increased efficiency in the Network Operations Center
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and trends reports
  • Notify customers and Internal Departments when problems occur following NOC notification procedures. Ensure that customers understand what is happening and is cognizant of delays as well as progress
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS and CAT OS, and extensive knowledge of Point-to-Point concepts, entire suite for TCP/IP,OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS and BGP
  • Trouble-shoot latency issues between CPE, client company, and LEC equipment and identify source of issue, resolve issue or assign it to the appropriate group for resolution. Follow through to completion and update the affected customers appropriately
  • Provide assistance to the field operations team in 24/7 rapid response format
  • Interpret network management console messages, and perform required actions in addition to administrative system support for enterprise event & performance monitoring systems
  • Create and schedule system activities such as testing and maintenance
  • Keep NOC customers informed of any problems or scheduled down times using change management procedures to meet committed SLAs
  • Test T1 and T3 wired circuits as needed with regards to customers issues and new turn-ups
  • Monitor wireless links /radios to ensure connectivity and proper throughputs and speeds
  • Ensure that all problems are logged utilizing the NOC troubleshooting ticket procedure
  • Perform additional duties when NOC activity is low including configuration and inventory data entry, generating management and technical reports, and generating summaries of active problems
  • Must be able to participate in a rotation of on-call support as needed and required to support our 24x7x365 Network Operations Center
  • Must be flexible and available to work day shifts, evening shifts, night shifts and weekends and Holidays as needed and scheduled to support our 24x7x365 Network Operations Center

Educational & Work Experience Requirements:

Any combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, will be considered. Qualifying education/training may include:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Telecommunications preferred

5+ years of previous NOC experience with an understanding of Microwave technology

5+ years progressively responsible in LAN/WAN and Telecommunications.

Successful completion of Vendor related certifications (IE CCNA, CCNA – Voice, CCNA – Wireless.

Technical school in electronics and/or communications technology or verifiable on-the-job training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches for access, distribution, and core layers
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and methods for copper and fiber optic cabling systems
  • Knowledge of methods used to operate and maintain a wide area fiber optic network
    Knowledge of Local Area Network topologies and transmission standards
  • Skill in documenting and auditing all networks and data environments
  • Ability to analyze, research, prepare, present and/or implement recommendations, reports, statistics, data, plans, technical specifications, and policies
  • Ability to supervise, monitor, and coordinate activities of multiple vendors and contractors
  • Ability to use good judgment in difficult, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

    Summary
    The Network Architect/Planner is responsible for the network design and architecture; working with a team of network engineers; improving and maintaining network reliability; providing engineering support for the installation of new customers; meeting or exceeding performance criteria in customer service level agreements integrating networks from M&A transactions; assisting with developing annual budgets for network expansion/maintenance; maintaining regulatory compliance. Large scale and service provider network experience is required.

    Responsibilities

    • Overall responsibility for defining network architecture and associated standards.
    • Manage network engineering integration and expansion through mergers and acquisitions.

    • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products, circuits and services.
    • Experience with routing protocols such as, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP
    • LAN protocols and transports such as TCP/IP, Gig-Ethernet, Fast-Ethernet, and Wireless
    • Experience with Cisco VoIP and Unified Communications (Call Manager and Cisco Unity)
    • Experience and support of WAN and MAN circuits such as MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM and Sonnet, DS1, DS3, OC3
    • Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS and CAT OS, and extensive knowledge of Point-to-Point concepts, entire suite for TCP/IP,OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS and BGP.

    Requirements

      SCOPE

      ACCOUNTABILITIES

       

      Ensures optimal performance of all Intel based servers by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring and by tuning/adjusting as necessary.

       

      Ensure service performance meets or exceeds business expectations and is delivered in accordance with SLAs.

       

      Provides effective Network administration duties on a 24/7 basis, as needed, by researching/analyzing issues/requests to determine server/application related implications, effectively communicating with all impacted parties and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with a sense of urgency to minimize any system downtime.

       

      Created Knowledge Base articles of operational tasks to streamline support and empower first level support to resolve issues on a first call basis.

       

      Effectively maintains all Intel based servers by performing maintenance patching and application upgrades (including operating system and various applications) as needed.

       

      Ensures optimal server set-up by conducting effective new hardware installations, hardware replacements/upgrades and by performing operating system reconfigurations as needed.

       

      Ensures applications are effectively set-up on the server by installing the application and by conducting application availability testing.

       

      Creates optimal server infrastructure in support of new applications by researching and recommending hardware/software technologies in support of application requirements.

       

      Ensures server security integrity by reviewing and implementing server policies within the system.

       

      Assists in developing the skills of the Server Administrator I by providing guidance and mentoring.

       

      Contribute to delivery of Infrastructure initiatives, i.e. server consolidations, centralization and virtualization.

       

      Contribute to new projects to ensure a smooth transition into the live environment, e.g. integration of acquired companies, new site installations, introduction of new applications or development of Infrastructure services.

       

       

       

      EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

       

      High School Diploma or GED required.   A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science plus three to five years of Systems Administration experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience preferred. Datacenter environment server hardware and software installation/ support experience required.

       

      SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS – for both positions

      · In-depth knowledge of Windows Server Administration to include Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and IIS technologies.

      Our client specializes in easy to create 3D models that interact with a SQL database backend and perform a number of engineering calculations. Their software covers a broad spectrum of technologies where a high level of quality is imperative. 

      Responsibilities:

      This position is responsible for creating and maintaining product test plans and testing strategies.  This position is also responsible for testing our products using an existing suite of 2500+ automated and manual tests, and ensuring tests are up to date with product changes.

      Work is conducted primarily during daytime hours (8-5 CST). 

      Skills/Qualifications:

      ·   Become proficient in product usage enough to be able to pass base and intermediate training class tests within 2 months.

      ·   Within 2 months be able to run and update automated tests in our existing suite of automated tests using HP’s Functional Test / Quick Test Professional (QTP)

      ·   Manage 1 – 2 software engineering interns and effectively utilize them to test products

      ·   Have a formal testing process documented within 4 months

      ·   Must be very proficient in using automated functional testing software.

      ·   Knowledge in VBScript and HP’s Functional Test (formerly QTP) a plus
