2 Different Positions:

Web Services Sys Admin
· Web Services, eCommerce and Middleware administration strongly preferred.
· Experience with IIS, Apache, WAS, TomCat and CMS systems strongly desired.

VMWare Sys Admin
· · Strong knowledge of VMWare vSphere for server and desktop virtualization.
· In depth knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop


SCOPE

The Systems Administrator II is accountable for installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining all Intel based servers to ensure optimal operation of servers and installed applications. This position handles assignments of a more complex nature and provides guidance to others within the department.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ensures optimal performance of all Intel based servers by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring and by tuning/adjusting as necessary.

 

Ensure service performance meets or exceeds business expectations and is delivered in accordance with SLAs.

 

Provides effective Network administration duties on a 24/7 basis, as needed, by researching/analyzing issues/requests to determine server/application related implications, effectively communicating with all impacted parties and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with a sense of urgency to minimize any system downtime.

 

Created Knowledge Base articles of operational tasks to streamline support and empower first level support to resolve issues on a first call basis.

 

Effectively maintains all Intel based servers by performing maintenance patching and application upgrades (including operating system and various applications) as needed.

 

Ensures optimal server set-up by conducting effective new hardware installations, hardware replacements/upgrades and by performing operating system reconfigurations as needed.

 

Ensures applications are effectively set-up on the server by installing the application and by conducting application availability testing.

 

Creates optimal server infrastructure in support of new applications by researching and recommending hardware/software technologies in support of application requirements.

 

Ensures server security integrity by reviewing and implementing server policies within the system.

 

Assists in developing the skills of the Server Administrator I by providing guidance and mentoring.

 

Contribute to delivery of Infrastructure initiatives, i.e. server consolidations, centralization and virtualization.

 

Contribute to new projects to ensure a smooth transition into the live environment, e.g. integration of acquired companies, new site installations, introduction of new applications or development of Infrastructure services.

 

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

High School Diploma or GED required.   A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science plus three to five years of Systems Administration experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience preferred. Datacenter environment server hardware and software installation/ support experience required.

 

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS – for both positions

· In-depth knowledge of Windows Server Administration to include Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and IIS technologies.
· MCSA/ MCSE 2003 and newer certification desired.
· In-depth knowledge of Windows Powershell and/or VB scripting to automate common tasks.
· Knowledge of VMWare vSphere for server and desktop virtualization.
· In depth knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop a plus.
· CCA/ CCEE/ CCIA certification desired
· Knowledge of Server Hardware including RAID, PCB’S and PCI configurations.
· Possesses generalized knowledge of EMC storage arrays and FC/FCoE SAN.
· Knowledge of Cisco UCS server hardware a plus.
· Demonstrated Windows performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.
· Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SQL 2008, IIS, Websphere and ION an added plus.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Proven ability to solve complex problems in datacenter environments
· Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style.
· Good verbal and written communications skills with the ability to effectively document procedures.
· Ability to document processes and procedures.
· Ability to work weekends and after business hours.
· Possess accurate keyboarding proficiency.
