Position Title: Linux System Administrator

Location: Carrollton, Texas, USA
Description:

Linux System Administrator

Our client is looking for a senior Linux Systems Engineer with experience in Linux system design, administration, performance analysis, and tuning of enterprise-grade Linux systems. The right candidate should have experience and knowledge required to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain/design highly available solutions in an environment with over 50 Linux servers. Hands on experience configuring Linux to use Open LDAP and file share systems is part of the role. The right person should have at least 4 years of experience with Red Hat / Open Source Linux, shell scripting, performance tuning, Apache Tomcat.

Significant scripting experience is required and experience automating sysadmin skills (server installation, patch management, configuration) using tools like spacewalk or RedHat Satellite is a plus. The individual must be comfortable with typical open source platforms and tools such as apache, tomcat, samba, MySQL, Nagios etc.

This individual will be a key technical resource in our efforts to maintain the virtualized environment and its primary application from a large UNIX system to a distributed Linux environment. He or she will provide technical and architectural support to the application development team during and after the current migration project of key applications to Linux.

The Engineer will also identify and address gaps in tool-sets and environment that would delay the completion of the migration process and areas of improvement to increase the overall sysadmin efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

● Overall support growth and management of technical infrastructure for a 24×7 operation.

● Develop and maintain high availability and disaster recovery plans/processes for all services.

● Effectively triage and troubleshoot for a complex environment.

● Resolve critical system issues on a 24×7 basis including notification and coordination with individuals from various functional groups.

● Actively involved in maintaining infrastructure compliance for PCI

● Help in planning and executing data center activities

● Manage Storage and Backups

● Should be able to wear multiple hats
